The history of the estate

Domaine des Nymphes was created in 1973 by the Meyer family, who developed one of the first estates in the village of Rasteau, in the Vaucluse region.

The winery was built at La Quérade, where in 1850 a Roman nymph altar was found, which can now be seen at the Calvet Museum in Avignon. It was in memory of this vestige that the Meyer family decided on the name ‘Domaine des Nymphes’.

Nymphs are female Greek divinities of the woods, forests and mountains, and are often associated with Bacchus, the god of wine. So it was around mythology that the estate's brand image was built, as well as the names of the cuvées referring to the best-known Nymphs.

TERROIR, Wines,
commitments

In Rasteau and Roaix, the estate benefits from an exceptional terroir comprising clay-limestone soils and blue and red marl. This remarkable composition has the particularity of absorbing the heat of the day and releasing it at night. The vines also face due south, giving them maximum light. The Mistral wind completes the picture, optimising the slow ripening of the grapes.

At Domaine des Nymphes, we are committed to protecting our environment. Our values include above all respect for people and nature.

We adopt a CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) approach based on respect for the environment and the well-being of our team.

Our estate practises organic farming, preserving biodiversity and the quality of our soil for future generations. For us, organic farming is not just a label, it's a commitment.

The wines

The estate's wines are generous, fine and elegant, bringing a touch of softness and femininity to the appellation, which is marked by full-bodied wines with character.

The team

Our team is the beating heart of the estate. Passionate about their work, our employees share a vision of excellence and sustainability. Each brings his or her own unique expertise, whether in viticulture, winemaking or welcoming our visitors. Together, we are cultivating not just vines, but also a strong team spirit and a culture of constant innovation.

This is the start of a new era for Les Nymphes, with a determination to bring the estate back to life, in particular with a new approach to the wines, a new way of thinking about them, a new way of working them, with an emphasis on finesse and elegance, giving them a new lease of life. The brand was also streamlined, both in terms of the number of vintages and the design of the labels: white or black, with just two curves symbolising a woman's body.

Today, Domaine des Nymphes is one of the smallest estates in Rasteau, with seven hectares, including four in AOC Rasteau and three in AOC Côtes du Rhône Villages. Currently undergoing organic conversion, the estate will produce organic wines from the 2022 harvest.
